A cervical airbag for cyclists created by Evix wins the second edition of the Andorra Sports Startup Challenge


ANDORRA LA VELLA The jury of the Andorra Sports Startups Challenge has awarded a cervical airbag project integrated in a helmet , designed by Evix, as the winner of the second edition of this startup competition promoted by Andorra Business, Andorra Recerca +Innovation and the Global Sports Innovation Center powered by Microsoft (GSIC).



For this occasion, there have been more than 50 registrations from 19 different countries , and high-level proposals have been presented with the aim of identifying the most promising technological solutions that can help improve the experience of the user and loyalty to deseasonalize the sports and tourism offer in Andorra. The jury was made up of experts in the areas of technology, sport, business, innovation, investment, entrepreneurship and finance.


As for the winning project, Evix is ​​a Spanish startup that has developed a patented cervical airbag system integrated into cyclists' helmets. The purpose of Evix is ​​to protect the cyclist's neck in the event of an accident. The airbag is hidden in the helmet and only deflates when the system detects an accident. Evix's is a unique product because there is no helmet on the market with cervical protection.


The other two finalists were Citylegends, a sports and urban culture agency that presented a social platform to help governments, entities and organizations generate more participation in sports and urban activities by bringing together social networks, games and data. And Fanprime , a loyalty platform for sporting entities and events in which, through gamification, the participation of fans is increased and they are given the possibility to make purchases of related products, thus expanding the generation of data and the 'increase in sales by the organizing entity.


The winner will have the opportunity to carry out a pilot project with Andorran stakeholders, participation in a sector event together with Andorra Business, accommodation and meals plus sightseeing for two people for five days in Andorra, one year free subscription to GSIC powered by Microsoft and one year of free subscription to Clúster Andorra. In addition, the winner and the two startups with special mentions will receive: special mention in the Andorran Sports Entrepreneurship and Investment Guide that will be published by the GSIC in 2022, a one-hour mentoring session with a member of the jury and awarding on site during the Andorra Sports Innovation Summit.
